This is not my favorite thing. I could live the rest of my life and happily never create another piece of vector art. But seeing as I went to school for "graphic design," hours spent in Adobe Illustrator was a bit of a requirement. And so. . .
I say all this knowing that I will happily create a very spiffy piece of vector art for the right price. T-shirts, logos, a portrait. . . I am perfectly capable of them all and I am perfectly capable of doing them quite well.
This gallery is
in no particular
order. Some of
these pieces
were created
for clients,
some were
created for
my own amusement.
Some were created because I was
required to have them in my portfolio.
I think you can easily tell which is which. ;-)
Enjoy!
This piece was created for a client in St. Louis. The only real require was that it be playful. The client was very open to my input and very patient with all of my revisions. Perspective clients should take notes from him! When you'd like me to create something for you in a medium I am not particularly fond of. . . Just be nice. I respond a great deal to kindness.
Remember a few images back when I said there would be stuff that was created simply because it was a portfolio requirement? These are those things.
While I love concepting an identity for a new business, I rather loathe logos. They require so much more work than a client is often aware of and most do not want to pay for the hours required.
If you are hiring someone to create a logo for your business, please keep in mind that these people have been trained in understanding just how a logo is going to convey your business to potential clients; Understand that designers have been trained in knowing how logos can be reproduced for different application and that there are some limitations to what a logo can and cannot have.
Basically: Trust your designer! This is what they went to school for!
And finally. . .
"Pieces created for my own amusement."
This was part of my portfolio upon graduation from The Art Institute. I decided I wanted to see how much a student could get away with.
Turns-out, quite a lot! As long as there are no nipples, nude women lying on the street are quite acceptable. Go figure!
